Emmy Award favs

It's officially awards season! I just love watching the show and fantasizing about what dresses I would pick and also which ones I would love to forget. While it seemed that there weren't many risks this year there were just alot of really classic pretty dresses. Totally my style, so I was drooling watching the arrivals. I'll end the blabbing and get on with my list of favs.

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta- Not like she ever bombs on the carpets but this dress is so pretty. The organza and silk looks so elegant but then the flamenco ruffles change it up and makes it so fun. It accentuated her figure, and with her jewelry and really easy hair, the whole looks comes together perfectly. Plus it was her birthday so that probably added to her happy essence, this is like the perfect birthday gown for the Emmy's. I love this too cause I would soo wear this gown.

Jayma Mays in Burberry Prorsum- This isn't one of my favs for just the dress but because of how well she wears it. She exudes elegance in this gown and her hair is so fabulous, plus her gold necklace is just perfect. I am loving the popularity of navy on the red carpet, its so much better than boring black.

Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera- This gown is seriously to die for. I absolutely love the combination of the pinkish/nude and black. The detail work on the tulle and then the design under it make for such an interesting dress. Its so girly and fabulous and Dianna's skin tone is gorgeous with the gown. This and Lea Michele's dress are definitely my top favs.

Elizabeth Moss in Donna Karan- Usually Elizabeth Moss doesn't pick the greatest gowns so when I saw her wearing this it was such a great surprise. This dove gray dress is so classic and the shoulder detail just makes it pop. I just love the color on her.

Nina Dobrev in Zuhair Murad- This dress is my favorite sexy dress of the night. The silk and lace is gorgeous as it is and then with the bandage like ruching and the hip ruffles and thigh high slit it was just fantastic. It was definitely the details that made this dress.

Emily Blunt in Christian Dior- This dress I am on the fence with. I love the dress. The color is so pretty, I love the lavender shade and the white floral embroidery makes the dress even better. However, her hair is too stiff for such a pretty flowy dress. I like the updo idea but if her hair were just a little more messy it would be great.

Can't wait till the next award show!

Xoxo,
Amanda

Fall Fashion DIY number 1

Ugh, I have so neglected this blog but honestly nothing super exciting has happened lately. Besides the occasional Glee spoiler nothing of note has been going on.

However the September issues just came out and I've been scanning the pages searching for my fall inspiration. In the millions of pages I've noticed just how popular leopard is this season. This is where I have a problem though. I am not a leopard girl (much more of a girly/classic girl), and in my case I'm not gonna buy a leopard item just for one season. So I decided to find a way to incorporate leopard into my wardrobe in a way that was still true to me and true to my rather small budget.

A DIY'ed leopard belt was the way to go. With the popularity of the tailored, really feminine feel of the fall collections a belt is the perfect way to spice up a classic dress or everyday outfit. I had some leftover leopard fabric from a old DIY and just had to buy a buckle and it was easy breezy after that. Basically you just sew a tube into a point then turn it out. sew the unfinished end around the buckle and voila! the belt is finished.

Sorry for the grainy picture, with the move I am currently detached from my camera USB cord. :( I have other DIY ideas for fall to post but I'll spread them out over the season.

I can't wait for the Emmy's so I can post my fashion favs afterward!

Xoxo,
Amanda
