Dolce and Gabbana inspired star necklace

I couldn't resist this DIY. I love making these stars and this necklace is gonna be such an awesome statement piece.

Supplies
1 7/8 x 3/16 wooden star shapes
Star rhinestones
5mm round rhinestones
small and large star sequins
black, gold, or white paint
Tacky glue
7mm gold jump rings
2.5 yards of gold chain-mine was 85 cents a yd at the craft store

For this project I used 5 embellished stars that I made following the tutorial I posted for the matching earrings here. This time however I did a lot of different designs so that I could have an interesting combination.

I created a multi strain necklace out of the chain. First I started by taking a piece of chain that was 33 inches long and connected it using a jump ring. You don't need to use a clasp because you can just slide it over your head.

The black dot is the center of the 33 inch piece.
Next I added a small piece of chain that was 13 inches long to the first piece. I folded the 33 inch piece in half and connected the small strand at 7 inches on each side using the jump rings.

For the final strand I used a piece of chain that was 28.5 inches long. Again I folded the 33 inch piece in half and attached the new strand at 5.5 inches on each side with jump rings.

Once your triple strand necklace is made you can start attaching the stars.

I wanted the stars attached in a less uniform pattern so it would be more visually interesting, in order to do that I just put the necklace on and started attaching them while I was wearing it.  The necklace is long enough that you can work with it while wearing it. To attach them I just used another jump ring.

I wore this today and it's seriously so much fun. Definitely a statement piece for sure.

xoxo,
Amanda
