Shoes all seem very embellished this Fall. From poms to bows, shoes have all sorts of decoration this season. These Kate Spade pumps really caught my eye and inspired me to create a similar shoe clip.
I've upcycled a lot of pumps lately so I figured I should just make a shoe clip this time instead.
Supplies-
1 inch black grosgrain ribbon
earring clips
527 epoxy
tacky glue
scissors
measuring tape
First I started by creating the bow out of a 10 inch piece of ribbon. Overlap the ends about an inch and glue into a circle using the tacky glue.
While that was drying I started working on the back and tails. For the back I cut a 4 inch piece of ribbon and with a lighter sealed the edges. For the tails I cut 2 pieces of 2 inch ribbon. I also sealed the end of these pieces.
First I glued the right tail on by lining up the top right corner of the tail to the top center-ish of the back piece. It's hard to explain but hopefully the pictures help.
Then I did the same thing to glue on the left tail.
By this time the main bow piece should be dried. To give it the bow shape I pinched it in the center and glued it together at that point. To keep it together as it dried, I used one of the earring clips to hold it.
Once the bow is dried you can add the center piece. I used a piece of ribbon 2.5 inches long. First I glued the top of the center piece to the back of the bow. I used the epoxy to glue it here because it holds better and the ribbon is a little hard to fold.
Then I folded the other end up and glued it. Using an earring clip to hold it really helps with this step.
When the bow was done I centered it on the back and glued the two pieces together.
The final step is to add the clip. Make sure and use the epoxy here so that it holds up to use.
Voila!
