Glee-wind: Asian F

This was easily the most hyped up episode of Glee ever. I heard from just about everywhere that this was going to be one of the most dynamic episodes ever. My opinion-it was very good. Was it the best? I don't think so. For me, episodes like Duets and Journey are the best. I did really like the episode though, the songs were good and the storyline was touching and really compelling.

In an episode that was centered primarily around Mercedes, I only grew to dislike her more. With every scene she became even more unlikeable. Honestly I kinda feel like her boyfriend started it all. He was the one whispering in her ear that Rachel was the enemy and she needed to take what she wanted instead of actually earning it. I thought her trying to portray Rachel as the favorite was ridiculous when I feel the audience has been led to believe otherwise. Before, Mr. Schuester rarely even talked to her unless he was yelling at her and the rest of the club continually puts her down for laughs or their own benefit. I never got the impression she was babied by the group or their favorite.

Aside from that I can't believe Mercedes was that quick to turn on someone she called a friend. Even Rachel Berry someone who desires the spotlight so badly was willing to share it with Mercedes, graciously I might add. Rachel tried to be nice to her practically the entire episode and Mercedes just kept acting like a brat. Yes there are some times that Rachel is conceited but on the whole she's a friend to everyone. Mercedes on the other hand couldn't comprehend that someone else deserved the spotlight instead of her.

I have to say that I really did like Spotlight though, that song is so catchy. Speaking of musical numbers, Run The World was insane. I loved it and I could watch Heather Morris dance all day long. Out Here on My Own was good but I honestly would have loved to just hear Lea's sing that on her own. Her verses were fantastic.

I really liked the Will and Emma storyline. They were cute. Emma's comment about her ghost parents had me laughing so hard. Jayma Mays is too cute. The end of the episode killed me though. Seeing how broken Emma felt and how badly Will wanted to help but couldn't seriously made me tear up.

Mike also had a lot of screen time this episode and I'm so glad he did because it was fantastic. I loved the way they showed how stressed out he was, I thought it was a really interesting way to show that. It was great to compare against the clarity he felt from dancing, I really liked that part. I really loved Cool, hearing him sing for the first time was fantastic.

Did anyone else notice the awkward moment between Blaine and Kurt after Kurt gave Blaine the roses? I was waiting for a kiss and then it just fizzled into this awkward pat on the shoulder with both of them looking uncomfortable. It was weird and it was another one of those moments that make me believe they aren't going to be happy for long.

My absolute favorite part of the episode was seeing Finn being an amazing boyfriend to Rachel. No one has ever been so supportive of her or wanted her to be happy so badly. He went up against an angry Mercedes to prove that Rachel was working just as hard as everyone else to get better. (Also, Cory in that suit during It's All Over, was crazy sexy, and that hair, damn.) Then during the Maria-off he was so cute I couldn't even handle it. His flail during the coin-toss about killed me. He was so excited you would think he was the one trying to get the part. His pep talk to Rachel was so tender and loving, he was such an amazing boyfriend. In those few scenes you could tell how much he loves her and truly wants her to succeed. The end kind of killed me though. You could tell how nervous he was for her, and also how torn he felt about the election. Even though he was unhappy about her running for class president, when he found out she got the part, a smile came across his face and he was just so happy for her. I just felt so bad for Rachel when he walked away from her because, yes, sometimes she misguided but she honestly tries to be a good person. She knows deep down running for president isn't the right thing to do but throughout this whole episode she saw her New York dreams being threatened and she went into hyper-drive. Then their look during Fix You about broke my heart, ugh. It's sucks big time that I have to wait a month for a resolution.

Overall I really liked the episode, just maybe not the best ever.

xoxo,
Amanda
