A couple of weeks ago I had a ton of DIY ideas running around in my head, then for a few days I felt like I had no good ideas, then I spent some time looking around Style.com and now I have more ideas than I have time for. That website is addictive and also the DIY Fashionista's dream land. I saw this Jimmy Choo clutch and I loved how the rhinestones looked like zebra stripes so I had to find a way to make something similar.
Luckily, I had some time this weekend to work on this project cause I was dying to get started on it.
Supplies:
Simple non-embellished clutch
Assorted rhinestones in a coordinating color
Glue
First I took a sharpie and outlined the shape of the stripes I wanted. I did this free-hand but I bet you could find a template on the web to use. It's hard to see since my clutch was black but I wanted to make sure the outlines couldn't be seen seen when the clutch was finished.
Then I just started filling in the shapes with rhinestones. I had a bunch of different sizes and it really helped me fill in the stripes better.
Once all of your stripes are filled in, let the clutch dry for at least a day before you use it.
Voila!
Lately I've been into statement accessories but this is a little more understated and I'm really liking it. It's not a plain black clutch so it has some pizzazz but at the same time it's doesn't command all the attention of your outfit either.
