DIY- Kate Spade inspired present bow bobby pin

To be honest I made this DIY about a year ago, and I'm just now getting around to posting it.  I think it just got lost in the Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday shuffle of last year, but it really is an adorable, easy, and fun DIY. It's also especially perfect for the upcoming holiday's!

About a year ago Kate Spade came out with an adorable accessories collection of bow adorned items. I particularly fell in love with these bobby pins.

With all of the fantastic occasions I have in December I decided to try making a pretty bow bobby pin of my own. Here's a short tutorial on how you can make a few too!

Supplies-
Short and/or regular bobby pins in your hair color or gold if you can find them
The smallest gift wrapping bows you can find
Strong epoxy glue-I used 527 or E6000

I found my bows during Christmas time and it was so easy to find tiny bows like this, they were everywhere. Christmas decorations are already in stores around me so it won't be long till you can find them also.

First cut the paper backing completely off the bow, just make sure and leave that staple in the bow because that's what hold it together. It helps to use some tweezers to pull out the paper under the staple.

Next I slid the bow onto the pin moving it around to see which way I liked it best. You can also lift up some layers of the bow and slide the bow in between them that way. Both sizes of bobby pins work for this. I first did this with small pins and honestly they are kinda hard to put in my hair but I like that the pin is easily hidden. The long pins are easier to put in my hair but I always worry about seeing the pin. Which one you use depends on the look you want.

Once you find a way you like it, take some glue and place it on the top part of the pin where it comes in contact with the bow. Don't put glue on the bottom because you need to pin to open so you can put it in your hair. You can also glue the bow to itself to kind of glue it around the pin so it won't slide off.

Essentially you want the bow glued around and to the top prong of the pin. You can do that by gluing the prong to the bow and you can also do it by gluing the bow to itself around the top prong. Either way, as long as the bow is securely attached and you can still open the pin to put it in your hair-you're good.

My pictures can better explain it than words.

Once the glue dries you're done!
