DIY Lanvin-inspired Pearl and ribbon necklace

Lanvin-inspired Pearl and ribbon necklace

Supplies-
Satin Ribbon-I used two different sizes but you don't have to.
Large rhinestone pendant
Assorted sizes of pearl beads
Beading thread
Thin lace trim

First I started by beading the pearls onto the thread. I did a graduated beading to add some interest. I beaded the pearls with the thread still attached to the spool, this way I could make sure I had enough length.

Continue beading the large pearls and then begin incorporating the small pearls again working back up to the large pearls. This strand is going to be essentially folded in half when the necklace is made so you're attempting to make is look like two similar strands when its only one. If that's confusing just follow the photos and they should explain the process better.

Once your done beading, tie a knot large enough for the beads to not move around on each end. After the beads are tied off go ahead and cut the thread from the spool leaving a long enough tail.

Then I took about a yard of ribbon and laced it through the loop of the pendant. Singe the ends to make sure the ribbon doesn't fray.

Pull both ends of the thread through the pendant loop. Go ahead and tie the tails tightly together along the back of the pendant. I glued my knot for extra security, snipped the thread, and then I used the ribbon to cover up the knot.

At this point I decided I wanted to add some lace trim to the necklace. Like the ribbon, I threaded the lace through the pendant. Place the center of the lace right where the pendant is. You want the lace the lay along the beads but still be somewhat loose. If you're unsure of this step-look at the final pictures to see how the lace should look.

At the opposite end of the pearls you should have the ends of the lace trim. Here I tied another length of gray ribbon around the middle of the pearls together with the lace.

Voila!

Thoughts-
-I think I'm going to sew the lace trim to the pearl beads. Just use some white thread and go around and in between the beads to sew the trim against the beads.
-This necklace is definitley a statement piece so I would wear it with a simple top and jeans for a classic but chic look.

Enjoy!

Amanda

@emma

I got the pendant at Jo-Ann fabrics. They've had a great selection lately!

I made 2 of these over the last few days-so pretty! I wound the lace in and around the pearls so it would lay better-worked great! Can't wait to wear them with jeans and a white button down and boots! Thanks for the tutorial!
