Although this week's episode of Glee didn't necessarily push story
lines further, it was an enjoyable episode overall. The songs were good
and an interesting departure from the usual songs Glee does. It was a
fun episode and I really can't argue against the gorgeous Ricky Martin.
I mean seriously how fabulous was Ricky Martin? I can easily say Sexy and I know it is the most annoying song on the radio right now. Glee's version wasn't honestly that bad and I think part of it is due to the insane amount of charisma he has. Also- how cute was Rachel encouraging Finn to go be sexy?! Adorable.
Seeing Rachel talk about her relationship with Finn was amazing. I love seeing Finn and Rachel in love and their scenes together, but I also really love seeing them talk to others about their relationship. Those interactions give wonderful insight into how they view their own relationship. When Rachel told Mercedes and Kurt that Finn proposed and she said yes it was adorable how giddy and happy she was. I loved seeing her so happy. In this small conversation we got such huge statements from Rachel about her views of Finn and her future. Hearing her say that all views of her future include Finn was so fantastic. We've always heard about Rachel's dreams of her fame filled future but hearing that Finn was a permanent part of that was a great way to cement an idea that so many Finchel fans already felt. The biggest statement was that Rachel was as positive that Finn was the one as she is about becoming a huge star. Rachel's dreams of Broadway have always been a driving force within her. Hearing her equate that faith with her future with Finn was just amazing to hear. This whole conversation just positively cemented the fact that Rachel never once was regretting saying yes to Finn. She was positive of her answer and any doubts were really squashed here.
Was anyone else really refreshed by Sue's speech about Will? I loved seeing her vulnerable and caring side.
I have mixed views about the talk Kurt and Finn had in the locker room. Seeing another person there to remind Finn of how special he is, was fantastic, the way Kurt did is what I have problems with. There are multiple layers to Finn and Rachel's engagement and as an outsider I don't think Kurt necessarily sees all those points. When he started jumping on Finn about it, I got upset. At the most basic level this is and should be a joyous event but Kurt isn't even giving it a chance to be happy. While I understand that he sees it as Finn giving up, he's not seeing and feeling everything that led Finn to propose. I do love that Kurt is showing him he's special besides Rachel, while she is showing him how special they are together. It's going to come together and be a wonderful track to lead Finn back to believing in himself. Finn's look at the end of the conversation didn't seem to me like him questioning his proposal. I think it was more of him questioning his future and where he sees himself outside of Rachel.
La Isla Bonita was my favorite song of the night, it was so good. Santana going after Schuester, although spiteful at first, was really spot on. It was good how she was able to make him reevaluate his teaching by saying how good he is at Glee. We don't get to see Santana be helpful that often but when we get moments like this it's really refreshing.
To next week-
I'm just so excited for so many reasons. We get Rachel's dads, and a school dance where Finn and Rachel are together, and Valentine's day. Oh and uh...Finn and Rachel in bed! Uh hello?! OMG I'm just excited!
xoxo,
